Backend

The microservices architecture of our system is largely based on Spring Boot Services (connected to PostgreSQL databases) supplemented by Rust Services. This state-of-the-art basis enables highly efficient scaling, very good maintainability and easy integration of future technologies. In addition, the system can be further developed extremely quickly and data exchange is extremely efficient through communication via gRPC.

Frontend

The web-based Avelios application is based on React and only requires an up-to-date browser version to use. Our mobile applications are natively developed iOS and Android apps. The software is highly customisable to specific needs & optimised for highly efficient clinical workflows. The use of state-of-the-art user concepts also leads to intuitive and user-friendly operation.

Interconnectedness

The modular Avelios platform enables maximum interoperability. External systems can be flexibly connected via granular service interfaces or existing standards (e.g. HL7, FHIR, DICOM). In addition, the Avelios system is fully networked with the Telematics infrastructure (e.g. ePA, eRezept, eAU) and enables the flexible connection of medical devices, (wearable) devices and (DiGA) applications.

Cyber Security

Avelios uses state-of-the-art concepts as a basis for the highest possible security. The data flow is encrypted with at least TLS 1.2 and usually TLS 1.3, with certificate pinning at the endpoints. User access is via a role-based access model, controlled by JWT token authorisation and authentication, and stores only salted password hashes created using Argon2.

Availability & Stability

Using proven technologies, the Avelios system offers very high availability and stability. Streaming replication ensures a fast response in case of hardware failures (Failure safety with RPO close to 0) and the direct switchover to replacement instances in case of server failure guarantees high availability even in critical situations.

Data Protection

Maximum data protection is an absolute prerequisite for Avelios in the development and operation of its own services. We use cutting-edge technologies to encrypt and protect all data and have designed our software in such a way that access to data is minimised and only carried out by authorised persons. The guidelines of the General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) were included in the development of the Avelios platform from the very beginning as a cornerstone.

Open platform

Our fully modular system offers flexible capabilities to integrate additional systems, devices and applications as well as to share structured data with patients, other service providers and the TI infrastructure. In doing so, we support all common standards (e.g. HL7, FHIR, DICOM).

Future viability

The Avelios software automatically generates up to 2,000 structured data points per treatment, enabling automated workflows, AI-supported patient treatment and better research. Our system is also dynamically scalable and can be used flexibly both on-premise and as a cloud solution.
